FAQs- Our goal is to provide accurate information regarding the functionality of our products. We want the information on website to be an
accurate representation of our products’ capabilities. We never want our customers to feel oversold and under delivered. Therefore if you have specific questions regarding our products, do not hesitate to send us an email. We are more than willing to speak to you over the phone or communicate through email to make sure you feel confident about your purchase.
Q: How do they work?
A: They are glow-in-the-dark lights. Our products utilize a specialty formulated non-toxic- glow-in-the-dark crystal called Strontium
Aluminate. Their unique jagged shape allows them to absorb light from nearly all angles which maximizes that light absorption. The absorbed light is then stored inside the crystals and when taken into a dark environment, they glow!
Q: What are they crystals made from?
A: The crystals are made from Strontium Aluminate and combined with a rare earth called europium. They are all non-toxic & environmentally friendly. Strotium is actually found in some toothpastes. They do not produce heat, radiation, or any harmful side effects. They are basically made from dirt/earth.
Q: How bright are the UVPaqlites?
A: The large UVPaqlite provides enough light to act as a night light in a 6 person tent or small bedroom. The medium UVPaqlite, in my opinion, is the perfect 3-4 person tent light. It provides just enough light to see your surroundings, find your socks, etc. but not enough to keep you awake. A lot of our customers use the small or medium UVPaqlites on their night stands. The mini UVPaqlite is more like a
marker used to identify trails, locations, items, exits, etc.
Q: How many lumens?
A: As with all glow-in-the-dark products measuring the exact lumen count is difficult. Here is
why: Let’s say you charge your Tooblite with direct sunlight at then immediately
take it into a dark environment, the lumen count will be much higher at the time
you enter the dark environment, lower 8 hours later, and even lower after 24hrs.
Q: How long does it take to charge?
A: Our glow-in-the-dark lights charge with any light in the visible spectrum:
sunlight, ultraviolet, LEDS, fluorescents, incandescent, halogens, etc.
The time it takes to charge depends on the intensity of the light used to charge
the Tooblite. For example a high powered LED flashlight will charge our products
within seconds whereas an incandescent bulb dimmed low will take at least 30
minutes.
Q: How long do they glow?
A: Our products will glow all night long. They provide a functional night light for at least 8 hours,
after that they will continue to glow for over 48 hours but, at that point, they
function more as a marker/identifier. (See illustration below- it is an
estimate- colors are not exact)
Q: How many times can I use them?
A: Our products never expire; they can be used every night forever! Their glowing capabilities will
also not diminish over time, unlike those cell phone batteries. They will charge
and glow the same today as they will 30 years from now.
Q: What is the difference between traditional glow sticks& Tooblites?
A: Traditional glow sticks give off light when two solutions are
allowed to mix. The sticks consist of a small fragile container within a
flexible outer container. Each container holds one of the two solutions. When
the outer container is bent, it breaks the inner container, releasing the first
solution into the second solution. After breaking, the tube is shaken to mix
the two components. Usually to activate this reaction, you simply bend the glow
stick. Since these glows sticks use a chemical reaction to produce light, they
are one-time use products. They can also be broken or activated accidentally
while you’re backpacking, traveling, or just placing your pack down. There is
nothing more frustrating than going to use a glow stick only to find that it
has already been activated. Traditional glow sticks also have expiration dates
so they are not something you can leave in your emergency kit forever.
The Tooblite relies on unique
glow-in-the-dark rare earth crystals to absorb, store, and emit light. We do
not use chemical solutions that require mixing or activation. Instead the
strontium aluminate glow crystals are suspended in a hardened translucent
resin. This allows the Tooblite to be extremely durable. Our product also does
not contain any harmful chemicals, so you don’t have to worry about a tube
breaking open and ruining the clothes in your backpack. Our Tooblite also has
no expiration dates!
Q: Are the Tooblites as bright as the chemical light sticks?
A: Our Tooblites are not as bright as some of the chemical glow sticks on the market. Those are
extremely bright, very useful at times, but not reusable. Everyone knows that it
is important to keep multiple sources of light in their emergency kits. We even
keep a few those chemical sticks in our emergency kits but we also have our
Tooblites if/when those fail or are used. We can use the Tooblite every night,
whereas we may choose to use the chemical stick only in certain situations.
